Clinton backers continue to shun Obama campaign
Despite taking in $52 million in June 2008 alone, presidential candidate Barack Obama received only $19,250 from major Hillary Clinton donors.
From a list of 311 'Hillraisers' who brought in more than $100,000 each for Clinton, only eight contributed to Obama's campaign in June, according to the Huffington Post.
Fewer than 3 percent of Clinton's top donors have given any money to the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Lynn, Lady de Rothschild, one of Clinton's biggest supporters, has started a web site that aims to place Clinton's name into the nominating process at the convention. Lady de Rothschild, like many Hillraisers, is reluctant to support Obama.
Clinton's campaign owes vendors more than $12 million, and raised $2.7 million from donors in June to pay off its debts. To date, Clinton has loaned her own campaign $13.2 million.
During the same month, Republican candidate John McCain raised $21.5 million. However, in June, McCain's campaign spent $27 million while Obama's spent $25.6 million.
Brendan Daly, a spokesman for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco, told the San Francisco Business Times that Rep. Pelosi "thinks that we are coming together."
"I'm not sure you can measure just by donor support," he said. "In terms of polling, the rank and file members of the party are uniting behind Obama."
